The Three of Us

These pictures I took from the nature trail beyond the gate of our kibbutz. We had a great time throwing stones in the Jordan River. It was hard convincing not to throw huge stones, but he stubbornly took part in the competition.
We got back just in time to eat a delicious Shabbat meal Haim prepared. Of course after I finish posting this blog, I am going to collapse in a heap. It's been an exhausting day, actually an exhausting week and there is still much to be done before we board that plane to New York City.
It was nice though to sit and be together. I'm glad we have this heavenly place near in proximity in which to do this. It certainly got us into the Shabbat mood. I wish I had 'discovered' this trail earlier.
S0, what helps you get into a weekend frame of mind?
Have a great weekend!

Of Friday Mornings and Afternoons

I decided to sit outside on the porch this morning and work up an appetite for some spirituality exercises (my Yemima homework). It really levels me and puts 'me' time into a busy teaching end of the year schedule. With the trees still dripping from the unexpected shower storms, I found myself caught in a series of moments, of morning choruses of birds, frogs and crickets.

I love nature.

My son is a nature boy too. When he is isn't asking me 'ma zeh' from his favorite picture book, he lives the life of nature and the world of stories. Why just yesterday, he walked up the hill to the pool and just like that, he recited a line from his favorite book that starts "v'lima'lah.. [and up]"

My son is just as excited as stories as I am about nature. Friday afternoons after a nap, and he's back reading his favorite picture book as if he never left it.
